ABTco Exterior Siding Claim

A court appointed inspector will inspect your property within the next four months. During the claim process, the court inspectors and auditors may also visit the property to inspect your siding. The average claim takes approximately nine months to process before you receive a settlement payment.

The ABTco settlement awards tend to be lower than other manufacturer's settlements due to the age of the home and non-painting deductions. Should you receive a lower payment than you anticipated, we recommend you accept the payment and cash your check which allows us to file up to six subsequent year claims should future damage occur.

In all instances, please do not paint, make repairs or replace your siding prior to the completion of the inspection process to maximize your settlement payment. If there is a pending sale on your property, please notify our office immediately.

Please be confident we are tracking your claim and will contact you only if additional information is required.

Important Reminder Regarding Claim Documentation and Settlement Checks

The ABTco/Abitibi Siding Claims Program will forward claim documentation and/or your settlement checks directly to you. You are responsible for forwarding any of this documentation to our corporate office.

You have received or will be provided a postage-paid envelope for you to return the documentation and settlement checks to our office. Please retain this envelope to mail anything you receive from the
ABTco/Abitibi Siding Claims Program to the ClaimSource One (CSO) Corporate office.

The ABTco/Abitibi Siding Claims Program notifies CSO if a settlement package is mailed to you. Please do not cash or sign any settlement checks. Forward them to our office with your inspection results. We will return the documentation to you with your portion of the settlement proceeds.

Important Notification

In accordance with the Abitibi / ABTco Siding Claims Program, please be advised of the following deductions and 20% Holdback used by the ABTco claims office when calculating your damage award settlement.

Age and Non-painting Deductions

1. The Age Deduction is determined by the following:

  • No deduction for the first year
  • 4% per year thereafter

2. The Non-painting Deduction is determined by the following:

  • No deduction for the first five years
  • 4% for the sixth and seventh years
  • 5% per year thereafter
  • No deduction if the home is repainted at least once every five years
ABTco 20% Holdback

Most damage payments made in excess of $500 will be made in two installments.  The first installment is an amount equal to 80% of the total damage payment. The second installment is an amount equal to 20% of the total damage payment and will be released upon satisfactory evidence of siding replacement or repair expenses.

The following will be accepted by the Claims Office to release payment of your 20% check:

  • Bills, contracts or receipts must be on seller, supplier or contractor letterhead and must be supported by copies of cancelled checks or credit card bills as proof of payment.
  • Repairs must be performed after your claim has settled, and the total amount spent must be 70% of the total settlement funds released (before the service fee deduction).

If you have discontinued product on your property, and the ABTco claims program awards a 100% settlement to you, the above 20% Holdback does NOT apply.
